Hey there! I'm a designer who research the secretes in technology and body experience, and an artist who can't resist the urge to dance. I was born and raised in China, but destiny has lead me into a thrilling journey to the US and Japan. I am currently a graduate student in media design at Keio University Graduate School of Media Design, set to finish in September 2023.
My research is about unlocking the power of kinaesthetic experiences and capturing the intangible messages of motion that make your soul groove and your body behave. Think of me as a fearless explorer, armed with a potent arsenal of mind-bending tools. I'm talking visualizations that can transport the fantastical realms, data-driven design that weaves a tale, and AI agents that are digital wizards. I'm on a mission to bring inclusivity to the creative realm, breaking down barriers and uniting disciplines through adaptable and interdisciplinary innovation.
Currently, my research revolves around movement visualization for wheelchair dancers. By blending motion tracking technology and movement data with Laban Movement analysis, I'm crafting an inclusive platform that celebrates the artistry of wheelchair dancers. The objective of this project is to defy ableism associated with disability art and foster inclusive HCI solutions for such artistic expression. Moving forward, I'm eager to dive into the world of real-time visualization with AI agents, allowing for even more adaptations to embrace diverse body abilities. ( If you are interested in this project, don't hesitate to reach out! Let's make inclusivity dance to a whole new beat. )
With a design background, I take a playful and interdisciplinary approach to my research, weaving creative threads and connecting the dots in unconventional ways. I draw inspiration from traditional design and art theories, infusing them into contemporary challenges to unearth fresh and innovative solutions. My skill set covers a wide range of areas, including node-based programming, computational design, qualitative research, hands-on prototyping, generative art, and project management. I bring these diverse skills to the table to tackle projects from multiple angles.
Beyond academia, I am a devoted dancer with a background in old-school Hip Hop. However, I have also ventured into styles such as swag, jazz funk, urban choreography, popping, soul, and K-pop. Recently, I discovered my passion for dancehall and heels. It is my love for movement-related subjects that stems from my dance background. I am also a huge fan for outdoor activities, water sports, and Tibetan culture. This year, I am planning to finish the Kangrinboqe (གངས་རིན་པོ་ཆེ) pilgrimage!
